Game of Thrones Scores VES Awards

HBO’s Game of Thrones has been nominated for several major television awards, though its actual wins are few. During the 10th Annual Visual Effect Society (VES) Awards Night, however, the hit television show finally got to bring home the bacon; bagging not one, buttwo of the three awards for which it was nominated.

The popular fantasy series has clearly made an impression right from the start of its broadcast. Its first episode, “Winter Is Coming”, won the award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Broadcast Program. “The Icewall” also garnered the award for Outstanding Created Environment in a Broadcast Program or Commercial.

Fire and Blood”, the tenth and last episode of the first season, was nominated for Outstanding Animated Character in a Broadcast Program or Commercial, but its fiery dragons were simply no match for the spunky bear in this Canal + commercial:
